WASHINGTON, DC—House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn today released the following statement on the nomination of James Peake as Secretary of the Veterans Administration.
“After months of failing to fill one of our nation’s most important cabinet posts, the President has belatedly presented the American people with a nominee to head our Veterans Administration.
“Hopefully the nomination of James Peake will serve as a catalyst to reverse the years of neglect that our veterans returning from combat have had to endure under this Administration. From the Walter Reed fiasco to the recent Red Bull scandal, this Administration has consistently shown through its actions that it is no friend to our nation’s military families.
“Supporting our troops means taking care of them when they come home and providing them with the benefits that they have earned and rightfully deserve. If James Peake is confirmed as VA Secretary, I hope that he is able to successfully convey these sentiments to the President.”
